We found Long story after a very long search for accommodation on the Garden Route. This was part of our two week honeymoon exploring South Africa (more on our trip here!). We couldn’t have been happier with our choice.
Location
In a quiet, residential area, a stones throw away from the beautiful Robberg 5 beach is Long Story Guesthouse. Run by Meg, who is super helpful from the word go. From booking restaurants in advance for us, to lots of advice and ideas of what we could do once we arrived. The house is a drive away from the main town of Plettenberg Bay. But that’s not a problem as it’s an easy drive or Meg can arrange taxis for you. (There’s no end to her talents!).
Accommodation
We stayed in the Deluxe King room and fell in love with the interior design. There’s lots of little touches that make it special from exposed copper piping to patterned tiles. As well as fresh flowers from the garden. Again we were well looked after, on a cold night hot water bottles were placed in our bed for when we returned from dinner. Perfect!
There’s also a beautiful garden and swimming pool which I imagine would be lovely in summer (it was a bit too cold in September!).
Breakfast
Long Story definitely wins the best breakfast award for us. (and was up against some stiff competition from other amazing places on our 2 week tour in South Africa). The attention to detail here was something else. Everything is freshly prepared and in lots of cases baked each morning by Meg. It’s absolutely delicious!
We also can’t forget Meg’s loveable puppy. A great addition to any stay in my opinion. (but even if you don’t like dogs, she’s very well behaved!).
